Dr.M.S.CHOUSALKAR

associates

Dr. Chousalkar is an alumnus of the Bombay Vet College; completing his Masters in Vet Science in 1995 from the same Institute. He started his career as a small animal practitioner at the same time and in the year 1997, successfully ran a Mobile Vet Clinic for six years which was very popular in the suburbs of Mumbai.

He now runs a vet clinic in Andheri with his wife Dr. Deepali. Dr Chousalkar has keen interest in canine internal medicine, cardiology, dentistry and dermatology. A member of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, US for last three years; he professes great interest in the field of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.

His clinic, TOP DOG PETS CLINIC is well equipped with an OT having facilities of Gas anaesthetics, Pulse Oximetry, ECG and Radiology. All types of soft tissue, orthopaedic and basic spay-neuter surgeries are carried out at his clinic. Recently laparoscopic surgeries are performed regularly for pin-hole spays removal of retained abdominal testicles etc. The clinic offers facilities of ultrasonic dental scaling for pets, blood transfusion in critical cases & ECG.

The clinic also does a good amount of welfare work for stray animals which involves medication, emergency treatment and surgeries.
Dr. S. S. Mallapur

A graduate and post graduate from Bombay Veterinary college.

She has been in small animal practice since the year 2000. 

She has a keen interest in wild animal medicine and had been associated with the Mumbai Zoo and the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.

She has worked as a Honorary Veterinarian for a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre (Uttara’s Animal rescue and rehabilitation centre), Pune, India

She has conducted awareness programs on reptiles in schools, colleges through slide shows throughout Bombay and also training programs on rescue of reptiles in problem areas in Bombay city.

She has a diploma in Sustainable Development and Natural Resources Management from Ecological society, Pune. Gaining experience in land restoration projects.

She enjoys reading, classical dance, having studied it for 10 years and travelling. Wildlife sanctuaries being favoured destinations.

Presently she is working at The Madras Crocodile Bank as a Chief Veterinarian.

Dr. B. R. Raj

A product of the Bombay Veterinary College, Dr Brijesh R. Raj, is an independent companion animal veterinarian since 2000, in addition to being employed on board a Reliance run mobile clinic (since 2004). He has worked with domestic and exotic animals and has been associated with a variety of medical and surgical interventions in a cross-section of animals and birds. His dedication and passion are more than evidenced by the number of stray animals he treats. Fourteen clinical articles underline his interest in research. .

He has worked for over a year, on a part-time basis, at the Uttara’s A.R.R.C. (Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre), a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center at Pune and assisted in the treatment of various reptiles at the Reptile Rescue and Study Centre (R.R.S.C.), a Bombay based NGO.

Tai-chi, French, Chess, Rifle shooting, Marathon running, writing and nature are his other areas of interest

Dr. Kiran Shelar

Passion for wild animals and enthusiasm to venture in animal world especially to alleviate their suffering attracted Dr. Kiran Shelar towards Veterinary profession. He completed the Bachelors degree with First class Distinction in year 2006 and the masters’ degree in Gynaecology in 2008 at Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai. Along with academic excellence Dr. Kiran made the most of the opportunities for extracurricular activities in his college years, participating various Vaccination Camps, Volunteering for various Conferences held in Mumbai, Organising ‘Spandan’ the BVC’s annual event. He participated and completed 140 hours of National Social Service (NSS) camp for rural livestock.

During his post-graduation, he devoted himself to small animal infertility and obstetrics problems. He also completed Small Animal Ultrasonography Training course conducted by Department of Gynaecology.

The issue of continuously increasing feral dog population in metro cities attracted his attention and he framed his post graduate thesis topic in this field of social concern. With Dr. Chariar’s guidance, he explored the possibility of using Laparoscopic Oophorectomy as an advanced technique of mass sterilization and in early gravid bitches to evacuate them with minimum risk of post operative complications during his thesis work.

Working with Dr. Chariar since 2005, he has got tremendous exposure to the common problems of small animal health to very complex medical and surgical procedures using advanced technological inputs in a state of art facility. He has also worked in an animal shelter run by a NGO, Thane Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (TSPCA) in Thane.
