Dr. V.M.Chariar
Dr. Veeraraghavan Chariar was awarded two University Gold Medals for his degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at the Bombay Veterinary College. Following his Masters in Veterinary Surgery, Radiology and Anesthesia in 1995 he stands dedicated to his Small Animal Clinics and is skilled in Speciality Small Animal Medicine, Soft tissue surgery, Laparoscopy and Orthopedics. He is also a consultant in Surgery and Radiology to several practices in the Bombay region and beyond.
He became interested in learning ultrasonography in dogs and trained at the Harkisondas Hospital with Radiology MDs in 1996. In 2001 he had an opportunity to get specific hands-on training in Diagnostic Ultrasound at Wisconsin Madison, USA. He traveled to several Vet Schools from the East to West coast in the USA participating in Rounds at University of Purdue, University of Minnesota, St Paul and University of Pennsylvania Colleges of Veterinary Medicine.
Due to his keen skills in laparoscopy he was awarded in 2005 the Young Surgeon Scholarship by the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS). He was also invited for a Surgical Internship at the Utrecht University Hospital, Department of Companion Animal Surgery the same year.
Dr Chariar in his capacity as Veterinary Civic Surgeon and Laparoscopist has set up the Thane City Stray Dog Neutering Center. Here he operates everyday to neuter bitches laparoscopically. His Clinical and Neutering work in Laparoscopy is acknowledged nationally and internationally - He is India's Premier Small Animal Laparoscopist.
Dr. Chariar is very keen on academics and is a proficient teacher and speaker. He has trained Veterinary Surgeons and Gynaecologists from all over India in Endoscopic surgery and has performed Surgeries and Endoscopic procedures in all four Metropolises in the Country. He has been invited by several professional bodies including and Universities to conduct Lecture-Demonstrations and Workshops in Endoscopy and Endosurgery. He is a key Clinical Faculty at the Madras Veterinary College's Laparoscopy Course conducted each year. A much sought after speaker, teacher and coach in Small Animal Surgery – he is a keen and avid practitioner of the art and craft of Surgery!
He holds the Limca National Record for performing 50 laparoscopic Oophorectomies on Dogs in a 7 Hour o 55 min period. Another Limca National Record he holds is of Surgically Neutering maximum number of Dogs in a calendar year, this includes 1453 Laparoscopic Oophorectomies.

Wife of Dr. V.M.Chariar, Dr. JVC has always been a strong support on which he always relies. She is deeply passionate about animals. Having a master’s degree in Surgery, Radiology and Anesthesiology, she has special interest in Opthalmology, Oncology and Canine Behaviour.
Dr. JVC is actively involved in educating children about animals. She is also an honorary Patron member of the SPCA Thane.
